Bill would make filing gun legislation a crime
Tuesday, February 19, 2013
Missouri House Rep. Mike Leara, R-St. Louis, filed a bill Monday evening that would make it a Class D felony for any member of the General Assembly to propose legislation that further restricts an individual’s right to bear arms.
The bill is in response to recent proposed gun legislation, including a bill filed by Rep. Rory Ellinger, D-University City, that seeks to make it a Class C felony to manufacture, import, possess, purchase, sell or transfer any assault weapon or large capacity magazine.
Leara said he filed his bill, House Bill 633, as a matter of principle and as a statement in defense of the Second Amendment rights of Missourians.
“I have no illusions about the bill making it through the legislative process, but I want it to be clear that the Missouri House will stand in defense of the people’s constitutional right to keep and bear arms,” Leara said.

Kudos to Leara. All these ludicrous gun control bills will do nothing to curb evil.

How about a bill making it illegal to be a Liberal?

How about a bill making it illegal for someone to post nonsense showing how little they understand about democracy and our republic? The fact that he filed this bill shows that 1: He has wasted taxpayer's time and money b/c the bill will go nowhere, and all he did was want to make a statement about how he supports the 2nd amendment. He could have done that w/ his own money, and not the state's. 2nd: It shows he has total disregard for the fact that in this country, you get to have an opinion, even if others think it is wrong or mis-informed. You conversavitive henny-pennies like to claim liberals want to move us toward socialism, but here's a perfect example of how the GOP wants the country to be all-white, all be carrying huge guns, and send us back to the 1950's, when nobody questioned anything. If you don't think like them, you're un-American, don't love God, and don't eat apple pie. How ridiculous. Legislators should spend their time on more important issues, like deciding which rooms in the Capitol building they can smoke in.

I wonder what Mike Leara would propose if he had a family member killed by gun violence in the last few years. What MO. and the nation need are rational thoughts and a solution not allot of don't do anything. That's what he was elected to do lead. Right??? Maybe a proposal to help with mental illness and screening would be better for us.

HAHA I guess the old Liberal conglomerate who won't pay for a subscription had to make up some new avatar names to post today.
Yes it is ridiculous that real lawmakers have to put in legislation to protect the rights of Missourians from those who try and take them by initiating frivolous legislation of their own.
Of course to the supporters of such tyranny it is always about race. It is always about race to them because nothing would make them happier than having ALL White men unarmed.
But we won;t mention all the other people's money that would have to be spent on their new confiscation and paper shuffling campaigns or the jobs lost from uncountable industries that would be effected.

These rep's who are proposing all these new restrictive gun bills, need to take up residence in Chicago, because that is where they're HELP is really needed! If the judges would place these criminals who use guns, carry guns, share guns in the commission of crime in our established penal program, instead of turning them loose on probation? Give law enforcement the RIGHT to FRISK THEM, if they are strapped, and not permitted make thier stay hurt; like 10 years automatic, that might be enough time to figure it out before they actually kill someone. Cure them of their alcoholism, drug abuse, getting their GED before release! One need not turn to far into the STLPD, KCSTAR, or the JCNEWSTRIBUNE to see all the priors, prior to the commision of real crimes! Enforce the laws on the book's, our Law Enforcement complies, Judges, and Legislative Budgets do not! rob
