COLUMBIA, Mo. - Two area athletes captured championships in the Big River Running Championship held Friday at the Hearnes Center.
John Karsten of Blair Oaks won the boys weight throw championship (46-2 1/2) and also finished third in the boys shot put championship (46-7 1/2).
Helias' Griffin McCurren won the boys 400-meter dash championship with a time of 51.03.
Also at the event, Will Fife of Helias came in second in the boys shot put open (51-5).
