Vogel shines at UCM Indoor Classic

WARRENSBURG - Central Missouri's Brent Vogel met a provisional qualifying mark for the Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships during Friday's action at the UCM Indoor Classic.

Vogel (Helias High School) set the mark during the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.27 seconds. He won the finals of the event in 8.32.

Vogel was also part of the Mules' "A" team that won the 4x440-yard relay, as its time of 3:21.44 was a provisional mark for nationals.

Also for the Mules, Daniel McCarty (Blair Oaks High School) came in fourth in the 600-yard run (1:15.66) and was part of the "B" team that placed fourth in the 4x440-yard relay (3:28.37).

On the women's side, Central Missouri's Jessica Fennewald (Blair Oaks High School) came in third in the 60-meter dash (8.10), fifth in the 200-meter dash (27.50) and fifth in the triple jump (34-7). She was also part of the Central Missouri "B" team that placed second in the 4x440-yard relay (4:24.17).

Also at the event, Missouri Southern's Addie Mengwasser (Chamois High School) won the mile run (5:24.37) and Missouri Southern's Melanie Bower (Linn High School) came in second in the pole vault (11-10).

Competing unattached, Jazmine Cooper (Jefferson City High School) was sixth in the triple jump (33-3 1/4).
