Your Opinion: Cost analysis of plans needed
Thursday, February 14, 2013
Concerning the one versus two high schools issue, I researched both Internet sites recently listed in the paper to ascertain the financial studies that support the one-school option as being the lowest cost alternative.
I was not successful in locating any cost analysis at either site. I would like to see the full cost analysis depicted in this paper to include all land purchases — including transfer/purchase costs of properties to Lincoln University and Linn Tech, assumed credits, operation and maintenance (O and M) costs of each plan to include future O and M costs of the properties that will continue to be supported by public funds regardless of which entity has ownership, staff and salaries and any other hard data that supports the board’s ultimate financial decision apart from the academy concept pros and cons.
Lincoln University and Linn Tech should also supply supporting data that justifies their expansions and costs — both from anticipated enrollment and program bases. Only when all this information is fully understood will the voters have a clear choice — then it may be time for coffees.
