Eugene 38, St. Elizabeth 37

ST. ELIZABETH - Down by a point with the ball, St. Elizabeth had its chance to defeat Eugene.

But the final seconds didn't go as planned as the Lady Hornets dropped a 38-37 decision to the Lady Eagles on Monday night.

Eugene, which overcame an early 10-point deficit, led 38-37 with 30 seconds left. After taking time off the clock, the Lady Hornets couldn't connect on a late shot. Eugene got the rebound with less than five seconds left and was able to run out the clock.

The Lady Hornets led 13-3 after one and 23-17 at halftime. Eugene cut the lead to 29-26 after three before breaking through in the fourth quarter.

Kayla Adrian led the Lady Eagles with 11 points. Eugene plays again today at home against Blair Oaks.

Savannah Stiles had 14 points for St. Elizabeth (16-7) which plays again at 6 p.m. today at home against South Callaway.
