Central Methodist at Knox Open

GALESBURG, Ill. - The Central Methodist men's track and field team won the Knox College Open on Saturday, while the school's women's team took second.

On the men's side, Central Methodist racked up 129 points to beat second-place McKendree, which had 94.

Leading the way for the Eagles was double-winner Dilan Simmons (Versailles High School), who took first in both the shot put (46-1 1/4) and the weight throw (50-2).

Also for Central Methodist, Kyle Jones (School of the Osage High School) won the high jump (6-6 3/4), Corey Schoene (Vienna High School) came in second in the 800-meter run (2:04.38) and was third in the pole vault (13-5 1/4), Kiefer Smith (Linn High School) took second in the pole vault (14-11), Jacob Wermuth (School of the Osage High School) came in third in the 60-meter hurdles (9.26), and Bryan Lechner (South Callaway High School) placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.26).

On the women's side, Beloit won with 129 points, while Central Methodist had 106.

Central Methodist will take part in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Saturday at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.
