VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) — Muffet McGraw earned her 700th victory with No. 2 Notre Dame's 59-52 victory over Villanova on Tuesday night.
McGraw became the 13th coach in Division I history to reach the 700-victory plateau. Her career record is now 700-257 in 31 years coaching. She's had 612 of the wins at Notre Dame.
Natalie Achonwa scored 19 points while Kayla McBride added 16. Skylar Diggins had 14 points, but was 4 for 17 from the field.
Notre Dame (21-1, 9-0 Big East) never trailed and led 29-21 at the half. The Wildcats (16-6, 5-4) got within 48-46 on Devon Kane's 3-pointer with 4:45 left. Notre Dame responded by scoring 11 of the final 17 points to seal the win.
Emily Leer scored 15 and Rachel Roberts added 14 for the Wildcats.
No. 3 CONNECTICUT 94, MARQUETTE 37
STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis scored 24 points and Bria Hartley added 20 to lead Connecticut to a rout of Marquette on Tuesday night.
Mosqueda-Lewis hit her first eight shots and her first five 3-point attempts, while Hartley tied a career high with five 3-pointers.
Six Huskies scored in double figures, including all five starters. Caroline Doty added 12 points, going 4-of-4 from behind the arc for the Huskies (21-1, 8-1 Big East), who were coming off a lackluster six-point win at St. John's.
Brookly Pumroy had 11 points to lead Marquette (11-11, 3-6), which has never beaten UConn in nine attempts.
No. 22 OKLAHOMA STATE 76, TCU 59
STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Tiffany Bias scored 19 points, Toni Young added 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Oklahoma State got back on track with a victory over TCU.
Bias was 7 of 11 from the floor to lead a 51 percent team shooting effort for the Cowgirls (16-5, 5-5 Big 12), who had lost their previous two. Young now has scored in double figures in 29 consecutive games dating to last season.
Natalie Ventress led the Horned Frogs (7-14, 0-10) with 24 points and was 6 of 8 from 3-point range and 8 of 14 overall. Her teammates, however, were a combined 12 of 42 from the floor.
TCU's first trip to Stillwater as a Big 12 member wasn't much of a contest. The Cowgirls never trailed after the opening minutes and led by as many as 23. OSU improved to 4-1 all-time against the Horned Frogs.
No. 24 SYRACUSE 72, CINCINNATI 48
CINCINNATI (AP) — Kayla Alexander and Elashier Hall tallied 23 points apiece as Syracuse defeated Cincinnatiin Big East play for its third straight win.
Alexander went 8 of 12 from the field and added five blocks. Hall made 7 of 13 shots and scored eight straight points to give the Orange (19-3, 7-2) its biggest lead of the game, 69-46, with 2:42 left to play.
Cincinnati (8-11, 0-6) opened the second half with a 3-pointer to trim the deficit to 31-30 but Syracuse used a 10-0 run to pull away.
The Orange, who have won their last three games by a combined 71 points, shot 49 percent (25 of 51) while holding Cincinnati to 31.5 percent (17 of 54).
Cincinnati held a 33-32 rebounding edge but committed 21 turnovers. Syracuse turned those mistakes into 24 points.
Dayeesha Hollins led the Bearcats with 13 points.
