On Tuesday at approximately 9:15 a.m., Cole County SWAT, Jefferson City Police Department SWAT, Missouri Highway Patrol SWAT and the Missouri National Guard Counterdrug Task Force, served four search warrants in Cole County.

These search warrants were the result of an on-going investigation by the MUSTANG drug task force, Cole County Sheriff’s Department and the Jefferson City Police Department.

The three search warrants were served at Twin Bridges Bridge Trailer park, located at 5605 Heritage Hwy, at lots 5, 7, and 32.

The fourth search warrant was at 4238 Crim Lane.

While executing the search warrant, two pitbulls became very aggressive.

Since the teams executing the search warrant carry less lethal munitions, both animals were dealt with, without permanent damage to the animals.

A taser and a bean bag round were utilized.

A total of seven subjects were taken into custody without incident.

They were transported to the Cole County Jail pending charges.

The charges for these individuals include possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and a couple of the subjects had active warrants.

One juvenile was located and, due to the circumstances, was turned over to Missouri's Division of Family Services.

Good job!!!

You could have shot the vicious pit bulls and did the public a favor, but thanks for getting these vermin off the streets.

Amen to both your points! Of course there will be posts supporting that breed of K9, and usually only from someone who owns one. They of course will tell you what a gentle breed they are and that they never bite or have never bitten anyone, much the same as those folks owning chimpanzees and exotic wild animals that go bad. They never bite or become vicious,...... until they do!

I equate a breed of animal known for aggressiveness and damage potential to a firearm with a mind of its own. Granted force was necessary, but significant restraint was exercised. That's grace under pressure. Props guys-n-gals! :-)

(I'm normally the among last to compliment LEOs on their discretion, if that weights my compliment any...)

How do you all know that they were vicious dogs?? What cause they say well you didnt see it with your own two eyes now did you? Well if someone strange entered our home ours would be protective of us that is how they are.

I think if you read the article above, it clearly says "two Pitbull’s (sic) became very aggressive". Also, if you Google "viscious pitbulls" you will get over 203,000 hits of articles discussing pitbulls and their well-known agressiveness toward others. Does that help you understand?

ashley24 3 months, 2 weeks ago

I see that it clearly stats "two pitbulls" im not blind, but you didn't see it for yourself. So my question is do you believe everything you read on the internet? I do understand my breed of dog sorry that you dont!!

Funny thing about dog breeds and the media. When the police shoot or in this case don't shoot one it's "those nasty pitbulls that deserve to die". Yet let the media play up a man on his own property hitting one with a pipe and the outcry of how anyone who would kill a dog deserves to die.

We really don't have all the information from any of these scenarios to make a call one way or another.

Really people? Did anyone ever think it’s about how you RAISE your dog and the environment it’s in that makes them they way they are? Has anyone ever seen a 10 pound Yorkie rip up someone’s ankle? It doesn’t matter if you have a Dalmatian, a Sheppard, a lab or a Rottweiler, if they are loyal to their owners and treated with respect and love, they are going to protect their owners. Pits always get a bad name and it’s ridiculous, but then again, look at where some of these people live…their kids act just about the same and half the time the dogs are more well mannered than the kids. Then again, the owners and parents are so strung out on drugs half of them don’t even know where their kids are most of the time. It’s a sad and pathetic world we live in

It is a sad world we live in when we start comparing mongrels to humans. Show me a vicious Golden Retriever then I'll start taking you seriously.

This comment is directly for JCLifer. I have seen you bash all kinds of breeds on here along with the Jefferson City Animal Shelter, because for some reason you find the need to comment on EVERY story. Guess what? I do NOT own a pit. However you saying an animal's life should be taken because of YOUR opinion?? REALLY?? I agree 100% with Ashley. JCLifer, please do a little bit of research on the behavior of animals. What if these dogs were not properly being taken care of at this home? At least now the police are involved and making sure the dogs and the young person involved have proper care. What next? We just shoot every "aggressive" person. Please stop taking a small part of every single story and blowing them up!

Where do you get that I have "bashed all kinds of breed on here along with the Jefferson City Animal Shelter"??? You obviously have me confused with someone else. I am a strong animal shelter supporter. I love animals more than i love most people. i have more pets at my house than humans.

i beleive that agressive pit bulls have no place as a pet. The only reason people get them is to protect their meth and other illegal activities. You may love your cute little pit bulls, but the absolute truth is they are bred to be attack dogs. There is plenty of evidence that pit bulls have maimed, injured and killed too many people. You may not wish it to be, but the evidence is overwhelming.

ashley24 3 months, 2 weeks ago

Well JCLifer just to let you know I DO NOT do drugs or an illegal activites that is not why i own a pitbull, and for you to say that is the only reason why people own pits is uncalled for. I know a lot of people who own them and dont do drugs or illegal activites. And no they are not bred to be attack dogs it is all about how you raise them and care for them.

youruncle 3 months, 2 weeks ago

So the "natural gentleness" of the breed is why so many cities not only in the United States but other counties have outlawed it, and in fact completly outlawed it in many countries? No one understands the breed, including the countries of Norway, France, Iceland, Denmark, Serbia, Italy and the list goes on. It seems the alot of people are out of step in this parade but you ashley24. I'm sure you love your dogs and I admire you for it, but give us a break. KUDOS to LEO for dropping them in their tracks!

Facts and logic do not exist in the world of the emotional.

JCLifer I am fairly sure it was having to do with our shelter being a kill shelter. Point being your comment from earlier is unfair. Again....I do not own pit bulls. Ashley has already said she doesn't do drugs or illegal activity. I am sure that MAY be true of others. Your comment upset me because you assumed these two were evil dogs and wanted them shot on the spot. Don't think that's an animal lover talking to me. That's just my humble opinion, maybe try not to be so brash about the topic.

JClifer is a STRONG supporter of the Jefferson City Animal Shelter? Ha. You right about him always having a opinion. Pit bulls are very dangerous breed. They can't be trusted unless your the owner. And that's not fair to everyone else who has to deliver mail, Girl Scouts, and other solicitors. My grandpas brother had one that the family all trusted just like every other owner always says. Then it killed his grandson bc he pulled the dogs ear. Other breeds don't do that.

MatrisaKrug 3 months, 2 weeks ago

That's a matter of opinion. How do you really know how the " OTHER" breeds act? Oh wait ! YOU DON'T. ......

Good work!

I do not believe there has been a department called Family Services for at least 5 years. There is a Department of Social Services that has the Children's Division within it. The child was likely turned over to them.

I saw on tv a story about a pit bull attacking and killing a child and the family of the child owned the dog. I think this is rare. A certain breed may have a mean streak but any dog can bite. Dogs have been known to save lives. Because of the bad press I hesitate when I see a pit bull. But that doesn't mean it's a mean dog. I guess it depends partly how their raised and how much of the "wild dog" is in them. Wasn't the little rascals dog a pit bull?

bomms 3 months, 2 weeks ago

I own an evil chihuahua. He would have turned aggressive too and most likely had to have been bean bagged and teased. It's really unfortunate the ignorance of people on the topic of pitbulls. These fools always want to talk their nonsense that they read on the internet. Nonsense mostly made out of some other fools uneducated opinion. A pitbull folks is another breed of dog and with care, will be as sweet as any other dog. I am speaking from experience as I have owned one and have known quite a few other owners. It doesn't surprise me in the slightest from some of the ignorance I read on these feeds on a daily bases however. Until next time, you all take care.

Good Lord!! Is this a story about freaking dogs, OR a drug bust in JC?!?! Who cares what they said about the freaking dogs!?!?! The point is, they took 7 useless druggies off the street......for the time being, until they get a slap on the wrist and released.

Lol. Think, people! Just think. Lab, Pit, Boxer, Yorkie...six or so large men burst into a house (the dog and its family's territory), yelling and acting aggressively (to intensify the element of surprise), and the animal acted accordingly and did its job as a servant and protector (in his own mind) to his owner, to whom he is faithful and loves very much. Why the article chose that as the first DETAILED information is a question of integrity. SHOCK SHOCK SHOCK! PEOPLE WILL READ READ READ! Lame, I say. Btw...I ABSOLUTELY LOVE JCLifer's generalized comment of pit bulls' owners all owning meth labs. So I guess all maltese owners have an affinity for using hair brushes and playing with squeaking toys? I will pray that your life becomes enlightened...or at least educated.

Oh yeah, I 203,000 hits on Google for "vicious pitbull"? How many for "vicious labrador" or "killer kitten"? Try to google "actual statistics".
