BizBeat: Capitol Plaza gets a new look

After 25 years in business, Capitol Plaza Hotel has made some important purchases to keep it up-to-date and ahead of the hotel curve.

According to Michele Burrows, director of sales, the Jefferson City business recently spent $2 million to update the guest rooms, meeting spaces, food and beverage courts, five-story waterfall and central atrium. New carpets were installed, and new linens, drapes, wall prints and soft goods were purchased. Flat screen TVs and new desk chairs were placed throughout the hotel. Burrows said the local establishment also replaced both elevators in 2012.

The renovation project was completed on Jan. 4, just in time for the new year. The hotel celebrated the updates with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week.

Along with its renovations celebration, Capitol Plaza presented a check to the local Boys and Girls Club for $790 as part of its holiday fundraiser. Hotel customers from Thanksgiving to Christmas could give $10 on top of their room fee to donate to the local charity.
