Blair Oaks tops Palmyra on late 3-pointer

MOBERLY — Sara Jones hit a 3-pointer with eight seconds left in overtime to lift the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons past Palmyra 68-66 on Friday night in the Moberly Junior College Shootout.

Down 56-55 late in regulation, Chelsi Emerson got fouled and hit 1-of-2 free throws to send the game into overtime tied at 56. Blair Oaks trailed by six points with two minutes left in overtime before Lauren Viessman hit a 3 and Emerson added a bucket. Then came Jones’ late heroics.

LeeAnn Polowy paced the Lady Falcons with 26 points, Viessman added 16 and Emerson had 12.

Katie Hankle led Palmyra with 17 points, while Haylee Nix had 16.

Blair Oaks led 19-16 after one quarter, 34-30 at halftime and 45-41 heading into the fourth stanza.

Blair Oaks (7-1) travels Jan. 4 to Fatima.
