Figures stolen from SW Mo. nativity scene

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A Nativity scene just isn't the same without Jesus, Mary and Joseph, and a Springfield couple is offering a $500 reward for recovery of the three figures stolen from their front-yard display.

Loretta Maples told the Springfield News-Leader (http://sgfnow.co/1fZlMeH ) she noticed the fiberglass figurines missing on Monday morning. Other figures, including a shepherd, an angel and the three Wise Men, were left behind.

Maples says she checked video from a hunting camera hidden in a tree and saw a man kneeling before the display around 2 a.m. on Dec. 20. A second person approaches the manger, and the figures of Jesus, Mary and Joseph are carried away.

Maples had feared a theft, and says the figures were secured to the ground with tent stakes, wire and electrical tape.
