No last-minute city election filers

Jefferson City voters have no primary election to learn about.

And there is no general election contest in four of the city's five wards.

No candidates filed Tuesday, the last day of filing for City Council positions.

The only race in the April 8, 2014, general election will be in the 4th Ward, where incumbent Carrie Carroll, who has filed for her last term on the council, is challenged by Glen Costales.

No other challengers filed against the incumbents in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 5th Wards.

Council members are paid $450 per month.

Although only the 4th Ward has a contest for the City Council, all city voters will be asked on April 8 to change the city charter, and do away with primary elections, which occur only when more than two candidates file for any office.
