Four Missouri volleyball players were named American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Americans on Wednesday.
Earning honors were seniors Molly Kreklow and Lisa Henning, junior Whitney Little, and freshman Carly Kan.
Kreklow and Henning beccame just the second and third first-team All-Americans in program history, joining current assistant coach Lindsey Hunter, who did so in 2005. Kan, a middle hitter, and Little, a middle blocker, were both named to the honorable mention team.
The four All-Americans are the most Missouri has had in one season.
“This is obviously huge for our program and I am really happy for our kids because they have put so much into this program,” Missouri coach Wayne Kreklow said. “Any time you can get this many players on the All-America team, it usually means that you had a pretty special season and we did that this year.”
Molly Kreklow, also the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year, led the nation in assists per set at 12.65 and guided a Tiger offense that finished the regular season ranked first nationally in hitting, kills, and assists.
After earning third-team honors in 2011 and 2012, Henning led Missouri with 499 kills and ranked 20th nationally with a 4.89 points per set average in 2013. Henning is the first Tiger to land on one of the three AVCA All-America teams in three consecutive seasons.
Kan, the SEC Freshman of the Year, was the only player in the conference to average better than three kills and three digs per set. At 5-foot-9, Kan hit .364 on the season, which ranked 49th nationally and seventh in school history.
Little finished the regular season ranked second nationally in hitting and currently ranks third following NCAA Tournament matches with a .463 attack clip. She also had a national-low 36 attack errors among qualified hitters in the NCAA and finished the season ranked third in the SEC with 1.23 blocks per set.
