Lincoln running back Morris Henderson was named Friday to the Don Hansen All-Super Region Three second team.

Henderson was recognized for his performance as an all-purpose player after making an impact as a rusher, receiver, and kick returner for the Blue Tigers throughout the 2013 season.

Henderson rushed for 1,266 yards, breaking legendary Lincoln running back Leo Lewis’ 1952 record of 1,239 yards. Henderson averaged 6.8 yards per carry, also surpassing Lewis’ mark.

In addition to his rushing total — ranked 19th in all of NCAA Division II — Henderson racked up 2,257 all-purpose yards, the second-most in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and sixth-most in the country.

As a senior, Henderson scored 14 total touchdowns, including one as a receiver and another on a 103-yard kickoff return in Lincoln’s win against Grambling State. He was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week following that game and ended the season ranked 23rd in the nation in rushing yards per game (115.1) and 33rd in rushing touchdowns (12).

The MIAA’s coaches recognized Henderson’s efforts on Nov. 19 when they voted him to the all-league second team. Henderson ended the regular season ranked second in the league in rushing average, second in all-purpose yardage, fifth in scoring (7.6) and eighth in touchdown scoring (7.6).

By virtue of being named to the Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-Super Region 3 second team, Henderson will now advance to a national ballot from which the 2013 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-American team will be named later this month.
