Tebbetts-area home burns

A home near Tebbetts was destroyed Tuesday night as its occupants escaped unscathed.

The South Callaway and New Bloomfield fire protection districts responded late Tuesday to a structure fire off of State Route PP. New Bloomfield Fire Chief Travis Bell said that the home was "already down to the ground" by the time his agency arrived.

The Heart of Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross sent out a press release stating that the agency responded Wednesday to help the occupants, a mother and son, who had escaped the fire.

The Red Cross provided financial assistance for food and clothing, and also provided hygiene kits and referrals to local agencies.

The family is staying with friends.
