BizBeat: Yoga studio coming soon

It has been just over three months since the Wilson's Fitness Studio in downtown Jefferson City closed its doors with anticipation of an all new yoga only studio. The re-purposing of its previous High Street location gave Registered Yoga instructor Megan Sappington and Wilson's Fitness owner Keri Austin the vision to create a new space.

That new location, 128 E. Dunklin St., is still in the works, but well on its way.

"Construction is heartily underway now that we have the city's approval," Sappington said. "All plumbing, electrical, framing and roofing are done."

The sprinkler system is currently being installed and the drywall is next.

"It is basically a brand new building, and stunningly gorgeous!" the Yogi said.

The building's original tin ceilings, glass windows and brick features have all been kept. The new Wilson's Yoga Studio is set to open in mid-January, with a grand opening to follow in early February. Big plans are in the works for the grand opening event. Patti Pellerito, a musician and sound healer, will be featured with her Tibetan gongs and singing bowls.

"The experience of hearing her music is indescribable," Sappington noted.

A party and open house with specials for early enrollment, mini-class immersions and much more will be held to kick off the new space. Until then, yoga classes are being held at 106 High St., next to the Divinity Bookstore. Previously the yoga community was utilizing the space at Capitol City Cinema.
