Ameren Missouri and other Mid-Missouri utilities report they're prepared to respond to severe winter weather that is expected to affect their service territories.
St. Louis-based Ameren reported that its Emergency Operations Center was activated in advance of the snow and ice storm predicted today and Friday.
Ameren Missouri employees who respond to outages have been asked to come to work on Thursday with their bags packed. The company reports that, as the weather develops, employees will be deployed to the hardest hit areas. They will continue to monitor the weather and add additional resources if needed.
Ameren Missouri advises customers that safety is the first and foremost concern. The most important safety rule is to stay clear of downed power lines and always call Ameren Missouri at 1-800-552-7583 or call 911 if you see downed lines. Assume all downed power lines are energized. Stay inside because you may walk into an energized power line. Stay clear of brush, shrubs and downed trees that may hide downed lines.
Ameren outages can be reported to AmerenMissouri.com/outage or by calling 1-800-552-7583. Outage information and preparation information is available at the Ameren Missouri Outage Center at AmerenMissouri.com.
Other Mid-Missouri utilities are also gearing up for severe winter weather, judging by their recent messages to customers on Facebook and Twitter. For updates, check the links below.
