Last year, Megan Sappington made her debut with Scene One in the Reader's Theater version of the play "Season's Greetings," by David Sedaris.

This year she is reprising her role but not as Reader's Theater. She is a one-woman force with all lines memorized and movement to go along with the dialogue.

Sappington plays a suburban housewife who is writing the annual Christmas letter to friends and family.

It is an interactive play with Sappington relating her daily trials and triumphs with the audience.

The show is both funny and sad, with the cynical side of Christmas showing at times and a surprise twist at the end.

Scene One added this to the schedule as a fundraiser to help with everyday expenses, according to executive director Mark Wegman.

There will also be a bake sale and a raffle of various Christmas decorations and other items. All proceeds go to Scene One.

Wegman said the group tries to produce a play at this time of year to coincide with the activities going on in downtown Jefferson City. It is a natural for people to come to the show after Living Windows and after the Christmas Parade.

"It is a short show, about 40 minutes, so no one will be too tired after the other events," Wegman said.
