JC students get ready to sell savings cards to raise funds

The Jefferson City Public Schools Foundation is once again offering Major Saver cards for sale through the school district's elementary and middle schools. Last year the campaign raised $39,000 for students.

Students will receive the packets on Wednesday and will be selling the $15 "buy one, get one free" cards until Dec. 17. Proceeds from the sale of the discount cards directly support the participating schools and the activities of the foundation.

The participating businesses include: Culver's, Prison Brews, Cold Stone Creamery, Roly Poly, Kate & Ally's, Colton's, Madison's Cafe, Lee's, Sonic, Baskin Robbins, Firehouse Subs, Downtown Diner, The Old Brick House, Papa Murphy's, Brew House, Kwik Kar Wash and Hy-Vee.

Major Saver cards can be purchased with cash, check or online at www.majorsaver.com from local elementary and middle school students. Cards that are purchased online can be credited back to a particular student or school. All cards purchased online will be mailed directly to the customer.

For safety concerns, the campaign discourages students from going door-to-door. Instead, the company encourages students to sell to parents, grandparents, church patrons, family friends and to always make sure their parents are involved.

More information can be found on the foundation's website at www.jcpsfoundation.org.
