Blue Tigers win final game in Hilton Holiday Classic

ST. LOUIS - Jennifer Rosado scored 15 points and Angela Randall added 10 as the Lincoln women's basketball team held on to a 66-62 win over Harris Stowe State in the final round of the Hilton Holiday Classic on Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets jumped out to a 6-3 lead, but Lincoln responded with an 18-4 run to take a lead that would never completely relinquish. After trailing by 12 with 5:59 left in the second half, Harris Stowe (2-6) mounted a 22-10 run to tie the game at 62 with 1:59 remaining.

Jackeya Mitchell, who scored nine points and recorded six rebounds, forced a steal and converted on the other end to give the Blue Tigers a two-point lead with 1:26 to go. Nesha Wright and Rosado both hit a free throw and the Lincoln defense didn't allow another point to secure the victory.

Lincoln was just 21-of-61 (34 percent) from the field and 4-of-19 (21 percent) from behind the arc, but the Blue Tigers claimed a 42-33 rebounding advantage, scored 25 points off 25 Hornet turnovers, and hit 20 free throws in their final non-conference game of the season.

The Blue Tigers have 19-straight games against MIAA opponents, starting with a home matchup against Northeastern State on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
