ST. LOUIS - It wasn't how Jefferson City wanted to open its season.

The Lady Jays dropped a 25-11, 25-18 decision to St. Joseph's Academy on Friday night.

Abbi McKnelly led the way for Jefferson City with 11 kills and 10 digs. Maggie Albert added 16 assists and Mallory York had 12 digs.

The Lady Jays (0-1) host Rock Bridge on Tuesday night.

Jefferson City lost the JV contest 25-20, 25-20.

Madison Fink recorded nine service points, while Mary Wehmeyer and Mary Vandelicht both had eight kills. Jenna Massie collected 13 assists.

Jefferson City did win the freshman match 25-10, 20-25, 25-19.

Madisyn Stone registered eight kills, Cameryn Campbell had 10 digs and Katelyn Runzi contributed 13 assists.
