JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri is cutting back on highway maps.
The state Department of Transportation recently unveiled a new version of the Missouri Highway Map. It's the first update in three years.
Department spokeswoman Holly Dentner says the agency printed 2.7 million copies - almost half as many as the 5 million printed for the last edition. At a cost of about 15 cents a map, that's a savings of about $350,000 for the state.
Dentner says the department plans to use the new supply of maps until they run out and then will decide whether to make any more. She says the agency will consider both the cost and whether people who have become accustomed to using GPS devices still want a paper map of the state.
