Lady Jays, Lady Crusaders finish first, second in golf opener

CAMDENTON, Mo. - The golf season couldn't have started much better for the Jefferson City Lady Jays and Helias Lady Crusaders.

Jefferson City finished first at Wednesday's Laker Invitational at Old Kinderhook with a score of 370. Helias finished just two shots behind to take second.

Helias' Jenna Kosmatka was the overall medalist with a 75.

Brooke Thompson led Jefferson City with an 87. Rounding out the team was Hope Watson (88), Ashlee Morrison (96) and Blair Michael (99).

Other Helias finishers were Lauren Plunkett and Hannah Berendzen, who both finished at 97, and Ashten Lorts with a 103.

Kickapoo finished third as a team with a 385 and West Plains took fourth with a 387. The Russellville Lady Indians placed sixth with a 417.

Jefferson City is back in action Monday against California at Oak Hills. Helias returns to the links next Wednesday in the Helias Invitational at Meadow Lake Acres.
