VFW hosting democracy competitions

Wyman S. Basinger Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 35 and its Ladies Auxiliary are sponsoring the Voice of Democracy program. This year’s contest theme is “Why I’m Optimistic About Our Nation’s Future.”

This program is a national audio-essay competition designed to give ninth- through 12th-graders the opportunity to voice their opinion on their responsibility to our country.

Deadline for entries is Nov. 1.

There is also a Patriot’s Pen contest open to students in grades six through eight. This year’s theme is “What Patriotism Means To Me.”
