BENTON, Mo. (AP) — The girlfriend of a southeast Missouri man accused of strangling his mother and burning her body is also now under arrest.
The Southeast Missourian (bit.ly/15aDqbc ) reports that 24-year-old Tiffany Warner of Jackson was arrested Wednesday afternoon and faces a felony evidence tampering charge.
She was detained while at the Cape Girardeau Circuit Court for another case in which she was charged with child welfare endangerment. Warner was then released on bond.
Twenty-five-year-old Neil Howland Jr. was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder, tampering, illegal burning and abandoning a corpse after firefighters found the remains of 48-year-old Cynthia Canoy on Aug. 7 inside a burned-out SUV in a cornfield outside Scott City.
Howland told investigators he strangled his mother with a dog leash at their home and also killed her two dogs.
