Your Opinion: Amazed by outrage over clown's stunt

Dear Editor:

This letter is in response to one of the headline stories in the Aug. 12 News Tribune. To be quite honest, I personally am totally amazed, but not the least bit surprised, at all the outrage and negativity from the state fair officials and Lt. Gov. Pete Kinder over what was very clearly nothing more than an innocent comedy skit at our state fair rodeo.

So big deal, if a rodeo clown was wearing an Obama mask along with an announcer asking spectators if they wanted to see "Obama run down by a bull." Lt. Governor Kinder is quoted as saying it was "disrespectful' to the president, and "We are better than this."

This is even being called racist by some. Do these people have any sense of humor about them? Or the insight to see this for what it actually was. A harmless stab at some humor. These folks really need to lighten up a bit.

If our lieutenant governor and other officials feel the need to denounce something, I'm quite confident that they can find plenty of other legitimate wrongs happening within our state to denounce, and maybe even fix.
