Your Opinion: Unwanted animals create hard reality for shelter

Dear Editor:

I’m a responsible pet owner but not everyone is. When you have too many cats and dogs for people to adopt they need to be put down. When the shelter is full there isn’t any place for people like me who live in rural Cole County to do with animals other people dump on my property to starve.

It has happened too frequently. The hard cold reality is when you have too many animals no one wants they can’t keep them at the shelter forever.

Are the people who don’t want any killed willing to pay the money for their upkeep. No I don’t think so.
