Two couples visit Haiti to attend mission meeting

Four Mid-Missourians recently attended a planning, inquiry and leadership conference for teachers, clergy and volunteers from Mare Blanche, Haiti.

Richard and Iva Presberry and Amy and Madison Spencer traveled to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, recently for the Hope for Caribbean Kids, Inc., annual mission trip.

The Americans and natives discussed the community's dire needs, particularly related to the church and school, as well as expressing gratitude for support and praise to God.

The Spencers led a balloon art training session with donated materials and training they received before they left. This project will be taught to the 300 students at the Mare Blanche school.

They also shared their balloon art and Bible stories with children in other schools and an orphanage.

The Presberrys helped with tools and seeds that will make gardening easier for the remote, mountain village.

Recent extreme weather events have resulted in fatalities and the destruction of infrastructure.
