Blue Tiger Fluellen signs with Seahawks

A Lincoln Blue Tiger will get his shot at the NFL.

O'Hara Fluellen, a cornerback, has signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks.

Fluellen (5-foot-11, 193 pounds), a first team All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association performer as a senior, led the Blue Tigers with 67 tackles (55 solo) last season. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native was second in the conference with seven passes broken-up while intercepting four others. He also blocked two kicks.

Some scouting services had Fluellen rated among the top third of available cornerbacks and of all prospects. At a pro day last month, Fluellen posted a 4.50 time in the 40-yard dash to go along with 16 reps in the 225-pound bench press and a 32-1⁄2 inch leap in the vertical jump.

Fluellen was one of just five NCAA Division II players selected to the Casino Del Sol All-Star Game played earlier this year in Tucson, Ariz.

He will look to become the eighth Blue Tiger to play in the NFL and the first since offensive lineman John Scardina (1987, Minnesota Vikings).
