Pancake breakfast, auction to benefit Russellville schools

Safety upgrades to the Russellville Elementary and Middle School building will benefit from the Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday in the cafeteria.

The third annual event, hosted by the Russellville Parent-Teacher Organization, is its largest fundraiser of the year, said president Sarah Oligschlaeger.

“The tragedy in Newtown changed things for every school across the country,” said Principal Karen Ponder. “We immediately started analyzing and having discussions about our facilities.”

Doors were identified quickly for replacement.

The PTO would like to raise enough funds to also assist in larger safety improvements to the building.
