Blair Oaks' Franks leads area golfers

It was a good day on the course for Blair Oaks' Kory Franks.

The sophomore shot a 73, one shot behind medalist Chris Wooten of Francis Howell, at the Capital City Invitational on Monday at the Jefferson City Country Club.

Franks' 73 and Tanner Elder's 77 helped the Falcons to a 14th-place finish in the 20-team field.

Southern Boone led area schools with a 10th-place finish. The Eagles shot 344 and were led by Blake Lammers' 77. Walker Kesterson shot an 86.

Jefferson City finished in a tie for 15th after shooting 367 as a team. Gabe Trowbridge led the Jays with an 83. Andrew Hansen shot an 89.

Helias was right behind Jefferson City with a 368, finishing in 17th. Austin Smith shot an 81 to lead the Crusaders while Nick Rehagen finished with a 92.

Eldon finished in a tie for 19th with 426 and was led by Braden Atkinson's 85.

Timberland shot 311 to edge Rockhurst for the team title. The Hawklets shot 313. Francis Howell and Warrensburg tied for third with 322.
