Event offers family activities

The public is invited to spend a family-friendly community concert on the south lawn and steps of the Missouri Capitol featuring children’s activities and music by local and school groups.

The Community Peace Concert, sponsored by Capital Area Rotary Clubs and Jefferson City Rotaract Club, is from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday (April 21).

Entertainment is by Down Side Up, a rock band of students from Helias Catholic High School; 2 Car Pile Up, a local rock band; J-City Riot, from Jefferson City High School Choir; and LU Vocal Ensemble.

There will be children’s art activities and free snacks and books.

In addition, the event will feature information booths from Council for Drug Free Youth; HALO Foundation; Dreams to Reality; Meds & Food for Kids; and Rotary Peach Fellows program.

“We have been thrilled with the support we have received from the schools local businesses and community organizations who have come together to help make sure this event is a success. All the artwork and event posters were donated. The musical performers are playing for free. Popcorn, trail mix and waters have been donated,” said planning committee member Heidi Doerhoff Vollett.
