Crusaders split doubleheader at Cape

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - It was either pitching or offense for Helias on Saturday, but not both.

The Crusaders split a pair of games in the Cape Notre Dame Showcase.

Helias dropped a 2-1 decision to Dexter. Cole Distler was the winning pitcher. He allowed two unearned runs on two hits in seven innings. He struck out nine and walked one. Jared Bentlage had two hits while Trevor Schnieders had the only RBI.

Helias bounced back to win the second game 8-6 against Cape Notre Dame.

Bentlage went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Jordan Backes was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI while Brock Gerstner had three RBI.

Matt Rehagen picked up the win. He allowed six runs (five earned) in seven innings. He walked five and struck out one.

Helias (11-4) hosts Blair Oaks on Tuesday.
