Owls' streak hits eight

FULTON - The William Woods softball team ran its winning streak to eight games by sweeping a doubleheader with Lyon College on Friday.

In the opener, the Owls powered their way to a 9-4 victory.

Lindsey LeCuru (Helias High School) went 3-for-4, including a home run, and drove in three runs for the winners.

MacKenzie Bowden (Jefferson City High School) was the winning pitcher, as she threw a seven-hitter. All four runs were earned and she walked five and struck out six.

William Woods then romped to a 15-1 win in five innings in the second game.

Shelby LeCuru (Helias High School) had two hits and one RBI for the Owls, while Lindsey LeCuru had one hit and three RBI.

William Woods is now 18-12 overall and 11-5 in the American Midwest Conference, while Lyon is 10-34 and 4-12.

The Owls will close out the regular season Tuesday with a home doubleheader against Williams Baptist.
