Missouri River Regional Library joins libraries in schools, campuses and communities nationwide in celebrating National Library Week this week as a time to highlight the value of libraries, librarians and library workers.
MRRL is celebrating National Library Week by inviting patrons to Patron Appreciation Day from 11a.m.-1 p.m. this Saturday. The event features food, fun and games.
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country each April.
"Service to the community has always been the focus of the library," said Helen Rigdon, director of MRRL. "While this aspect has never changed, libraries have grown and evolved in how they provide for the needs of every member of their community."
For more information, visit MRRL's main branch in Jefferson City at 214 Adams St., or the Osage County Branch in Linn at 1014-D Main St.; call (573) 634-3464 or see the library's website at www.mrrl.org for hours and a listing of all events.
