The Jefferson City Jays have cracked the top 10 in the most recent state baseball rankings from the Missouri State Baseball Coaches Association.
The Jays are in at No. 7 in Class 5 after getting off to a 12-2 start. They host Hickman at 5 p.m. today in a game originally scheduled for Monday that was postponed due to weather.
The Jays are one of several area teams either ranked or receiving votes.
Helias (9-3) also is receiving votes in Class 5 and is scheduled play at 5 p.m. today at Marshall.
The Fatima Comets (8-3) are in at No. 5 in Class 3 and play again today at Russellville (8-4), which is ranked No. 9 in the Class 2 poll.
Vienna (9-4) is No. 10 in Class 2 and plays again today at St. Elizabeth.
New Bloomfield (record n/a) and Linn (6-4) are both receiving votes in Class 2. New Bloomfield plays again today at home against Eugene while Linn is back in action today at home against South Callaway.
