Tennis: Helias takes third

MEXICO, Mo. — Helias took third in the Missouri Military Academy Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Springfield Kickapoo took first with 23 points, Salem was second with 17 and Helias and MMA tied for third with 10.

Helias’ top doubles team of Caleb Seidel and Zach Yungbluth took second place. The pair started off beating a Salem duo 10-3 and topping a Kickapoo team 10-4 before falling to another Kickapoo team 8-10 in the finals.

Helias freshman T.J. Hagenhoff, playing in the No. 2 singles slot, took third place. He lost to a Salem player 4-10, beat an MMA player 10-8 and fell 4-10 to a Kickapoo player.

Helias is back in action Wednesday at Marshall.
