KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A man who was paralyzed in a 1999 drive-by shooting in Kansas City has died, prompting a renewed search for the shooter.
The Kansas City Star (http://bit.ly/YlbtHs ) reports that the Jackson County Medical Examiner's office has ruled Jerry A. Johnson's death a homicide. Jackson died last month of heart failure after living in nursing homes for more than 10 years.
The medical examiner determined that his death was the result of complications of the shooting.
Jackson had just turned 19 when he was shot in the neck in the early evening on Nov. 30, 1999. He was walking to a friend's car when a green car passed, then stopped and backed up.
The Star says Jackson was shot when he asked what the people in the green car were doing.
