Mo. moving forward with department reorganization

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri is moving forward with a reorganization of several state agencies.

The Legislature did not object, so three executive orders by Gov. Jay Nixon will take effect Aug. 28 shifting duties among departments. Under the changes:

- The Center for Emergency Response and Terrorism will move from the Department of Health and Senior Services to the Department of Public Safety.

- Responsibility for ensuring that recipients of tax credits comply with state law will move from the Department of Economic Development to the Department of Revenue.

- The Division of Energy will shift from the Department of Natural Resources to the Department of Economic Development.

Nixon issued the executive orders in February. The Legislature had 60 days to block them but did not do so.
