Lincoln softball drops pair to Bronchos

EDMOND, Okla, - The Central Oklahoma Bronchos racked up 24 runs and had a 29-2 edge in hits while sweeping a softball doubleheader with the Lincoln Blue Tigers on Saturday.

The Bronchos romped to an 11-0 win in the opener, outhitting the Blue Tigers 17-2.

Singles by Sam Kircher and Kristina Hein were the only hits for Lincoln.

Clair Lorenz (7-5) took the loss for Lincoln. She gave up all 11 runs (10 earned) on 15 hits in six innings. She struck out two and walked one.

Hein worked the last inning and gave up two hits while striking out one.

It was worse for Lincoln in the nightcap, as they got no-hit in a 13-0 loss shortened to five innings due to the run rule.

The Bronchos had 12 hits in the contest.

Starr McLeod (2-4) started and took the loss. She gave up seven runs (four earned) on six hits in 21⁄3 innings. She walked one and struck out one.

Hein then threw two innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit and three walks.

Jessica Thomsen followed and did not record an out while giving up three unearned runs on three hits.

Lorenz worked the final 2⁄3 of an inning, allowing one unearned run on two hits and one walk.

The Bronchos are now 27-7 overall and 11-1 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, while Lincoln is 10-15-1 and 2-10.

The Blue Tigers will play a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Missouri Western.
