Southern Boone, Fatima take titles at Fatima Relays

WESTPHALIA — The Fatima Relays turned into a split decision Tuesday as Southern Boone took the title on the boys side, while Fatima won the girls championship.

Southern Boone finished with 138 points, followed by Fatima with 122 and Blair Oaks with 90.5.

Southern Boone’s Landon Bartel won four events, taking first place in the triple jump (40-08 1/2), long jump (19-11 3/4), high jump (6-02) and the 110-meter hurdles (15.36). Clayton Birkes of Southern Boone was a double-winner, taking titles in the 200- (23.06) and 400-meter (53.02).

The Lady Comets finished with 193 points to outdistance Blair Oaks, which had 134 points. Southern Boone was third with 69 points.

Allie Heckemeyer of St. Elizabeth won four events. She was victorious in the triple jump (34-10), long jump (15-06 1/2), 200-meter dash (27.60) and 400-meter dash (1:02.14).
