Rock Bridge knocks off Jefferson City in tennis

The Jefferson City Jays won a singles and a doubles match in dropping a 7-2 decision Wednesday to defending state champion Rock Bridge at Washington Park.

Sam Johnson won his singles match for the Jays by scores of 6-1, 6-1. Spencer Bone and Dalton Doyle teamed up to win their doubles match 6-7, 6-2 (11-9 tiebreaker) for Jefferson City.

Falling in singles for the Jays were David Clausen (4-6, 2-6), David Steinmeyer (0-6, 1-6), Bone (2-6, 3-6), Isaac Roling (6-7, 3-6) and Rex Michitsch (2-6, 6-4 6-10 tiebreaker).

In doubles, the team of Johnson and Clausen fell 3-6, 2-6. The duo of Steinmeyer and Roling dropped a 0-6, 3-6 decision in its match.

Jefferson City (1-2) will play Friday at Glendale
