If it wasn't one thing, it was another for the Lincoln softball team Wednesday night.
The Blue Tigers lacked offense in the first game, and had pitching issues in the second game while dropping a doubleheader to Truman State at Binder Park.
The Blue Tigers couldn't get the bats going in the first game as they fell 6-1. The Bulldogs played long ball as Andrea Klipsch hit a three-run home run to cap a five-run third. Liz Leath added a solo home run in the seventh as Truman was in control throughout.
Lincoln's only run came on an RBI groundout by Sam Kircher in the bottom of the seventh.
Joey Bunch had all three of Lincoln's hits as Truman out hit Lincoln 9-3.
Jessica Thomsen took the loss. She allowed four runs and five hits in 21â„3 innings.
Hannah Washburn tossed six innings for the Bulldogs, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out seven.
Truman State pounded out 18 hits in the second game and finished the sweep with a 10-5 victory.
Lincoln trailed 6-5 before things fell apart in the sixth. Truman State scored four times on six hits to blow the game open. Three of the runs came with two outs.
Lincoln went quietly in the sixth and seventh as it fell to 10-11-1 overall and 2-6 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.
For a while, it looked like Truman might run-rule Lincoln.
The Bulldogs used the home run again to their advantage as Ally McReynalds belted a three-run home run to left to put the Bulldogs up 6-0 in the third.
Lincoln rallied with five runs in the third thanks to an RBI single by Lauren McMinn, a bases-loaded walk to Shantae Duran and an RBI single by Clair Lorenz. The Blue Tigers added two more on a throwing error, but it wasn't enough.
That was all the help Lorenz would get in the circle however. She allowed 10 runs (all earned) on 14 hits while striking out three in the contest.
Kendra Henze got the win for Truman (18-8, 6-4 MIAA), allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits. She struck out eight.
McMinn finished with two hits for Lincoln.
Lincoln plays again Friday afternoon with a doubleheader at home against Northeastern State. The first game is slated for a noon start.
