Drury cancels some classes for Div. II finale

SPRINGFIELD (AP) - There's another men's basketball championship game taking place in Atlanta this weekend, and a southwest Missouri university wants to make sure its fans can get there and back without worrying about missing classes.

The Drury Panthers play Colorado's Metropolitan State on Sunday afternoon for the NCAA Division II title at Phillips Arena in Atlanta. The Panthers (30-4) reached the championship by knocking off defending champ Western Washington 107-97 on Saturday.

Drury officials have announced that all classes scheduled to start before 5 p.m. Monday on the Springfield campus will be canceled. That's so faculty, students and staff can travel to Atlanta for Sunday's game and have time to return to Springfield safely on Monday.

All Monday classes at branch campuses plus evening classes at Springfield will meet as scheduled.
