JC neighborhood adds more activities to Oktoberfest

More canines and clubs have been added to the 12th annual Oktoberfest line-up 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday in Jefferson City's Old Munichburg, at Dunklin and Washington streets.

The Mid-Mo Waggers will put on a dog show at 11 a.m. in the dachshund arena, followed at noon by the Dock Dogs presentation by the national champion team of Willie Stone and Martini.

The newly formed German Club from Cedar Hill Elementary School will join the Loehnig German Band on the main stage at 1 p.m. to sing a few traditional German songs and perform the Chicken Dance.

Also to keep the heritage alive, the festival will include artisans like Mike Yeoman, Fair Grove, creating rye-coiled baskets, an essential for 19th century German living.
