City sales tax receipts ahead

General sales tax figures in Jefferson City have come in higher than projected for the year so far.
As of Sept. 12, the city reported an overage of $168,810 in city sales tax from November 2011 through September 2012, a 1.76 percent increase over budgeted numbers.
The city’s half-cent capital improvement sales tax also is above projected figures for the year, with an overage of $95,140 in funds from November 2011 through September 2012. The dedicated half-cent sales tax for the Parks Department also is over its projected amount, with $159,856 in additional tax revenue for the year.
