Common carp possess a combination of appealing fish qualities.
They grow large, feed selectively, fight fiercely and are prevalent in waters nationwide. Carp can be caught on anything from heavy spinning equipment to precision fly rods in waters as diverse as the Great Lakes, urban reservoirs, mountain rivers and irrigation ditches.
Yet for some reason, the common carp has historically been ostracized in America. Things are starting to look up for old “buglemouth,” though. To steal a few words from Bob Dylan, “The times, they are a changing.”
