Fire department plans 100th anniversary celebration
Saturday, September 22, 2012
On Oct. 7, 1912, City Ordinance 1089 was signed to create a modern, full-time Jefferson City Fire Department.
One hundred years later, the city is planning to commemorate that event with a full weekend of activities.
“We’ve been planning this for over a year and we’re really excited about the support we’ve received,” said Fire Department Capt. Tim Young.
Events begin Oct. 4, with a 7 p.m. gala at the Capitol Plaza Hotel. Bob Priddy from the Missourinet will be guest speaker.
