CROP walk to benefit hungry kids

Hunger is not only an international problem, it’s growing locally as well.

The Rev. David Avery, pastor at Community Christian Church, encouraged members of the Christian Ministerial Fellowship Thursday to involve their churches in the 41st annual local CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) Walk, which raises funds for and awareness of hunger issues.

Last year’s event gathered more than 400 participants who walked from the Soldier’s Memorial on the campus of Lincoln University to the Capitol downtown, raising $10,000.
