Welch strong for Helias in softball win against Boonville

Nothing could faze Paxton Welch on Thursday night.

Not pitching three straight days. Not four Helias errors. Not facing runners in scoring positions in five separate innings.

Welch’s brilliant effort kept Boonville at bay until the Lady Crusader offense combined for eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings en route to a 10-0 six-inning victory at Duensing Field.

“Just another great performance from her,” Helias coach Dan Campbell said. “Kind of the same old story. She always gives us a chance to win.”

Welch picked up her third victory in as many days, defeating Fatima on Tuesday and Webb City in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday before Thursday night’s win.
